Admissions

Except L.K.G and U.K.G Classes new admissions are all based on entrance test. The subjects for the entrance test will be English, Tamil and Mathematics.

Children seeking admission to baby class and above should produce the following documents with the admissions form duly filled in

  • Birth Certificate
  • Transfer certificate and progress report of previous class (pupils from other schools Only)
  • Pupils from states other than Tamil Nadu must get their transfer certificates Countersigned by the education authority of their respective district.

School uniform is compulsory on all school days and functions, pupils should come to school clean and tidy, failing which they will be sent home.


TRANSFER CERTIFICATES:

Application for Transfer Certificates must be made before 25th March. For late applications the Transfer Certificate will be issued only on payment of the First Term Fees.


WITHDRAWLS:

In the event of withdrawals during on the session (i.e) June to May or withdrawals on account of disciplinary grounds, school Leaving certificate can be issued only to those who have settled all their fees and by submitting a written requisition.

ACADEMIC YEAR:

The academic year is from June to May.

WORKING SESSION:

The school year is divided in to three terms

First term - June to September
Second term - October to January
Third term - February to May

SCHOOLS HOURS:

KG Classes : 9.20 a.m to 12.00 p.m. 1.00 p.m to 3.30 p.m.
Grade I to IX : 9.20 a.m to 12.20 p.m. 1.20 p.m to 4.15 p.m.
Grade X : 8:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m 1:20 p.m to 4:00 p.m

SCHOOL WEEK:

Monday – Friday

1st and 3rd Saturdays are full working day.

OFFICE WORKING HOURS:

Monday to Friday : 8:30 a.m to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday : 9:00 a.m to 3.00 p.m.

TEXT BOOKS AND NOTE BOOKS:

A book depot is attached to the school. Text books and note books should be bought only from the school depot to maintain uniformity.

ATTENDANCE:

Most of the assessment will be made in the day today work in the classroom itself .Daily work is more important than tests. Incidentally this will discourage parents from applying for leave during the school days.

Parents are requested to seek leave for their children only in unavoidable circumstances. Leave absence will not to be granted without a written application from the parents.

Re – examination will not to be accorded to any absentee from school examination. Children who are ill will not be permitted to attend school.

QUARANTINE PERIOD:

Pupils suffering from infectious or contagious diseases should not attend school on any account. The quarantine period is 21 days for Chicken Pox and Measles and 14 days for Mumps. A medical fitness certificate is to be produced on resuming school.

EXAMINATIONS AND REPORTS:

Two cycle tests per term (6 cycle tests), two terminal examinations and an annual examination will be conducted. The marks entered in the progress reports should be signed by the parents or guardians. Revision tests will also be conducted.

COMPUTER:

Students will have their computer period twice a week. Students should take proper care of the computer.

LABORATORY:

The science syllabus has the main divisions Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Practical science from VI to X std. Students must attend the practical class without fail. I to V STD. Children are allowed to see the lab equipments and working models for observation.

MAKE AND MEND DAY:

Dresses, nails, hair books and note books will be checked once a week at 3.30 p.m. The students who get highest mark will be awarded.

PRIZES AND DISTINCTION FOR SPORTS,GAMES AND EDUCATION:

1. SJMS Gold Medal

This merit prize is awarded to the pupils of this school who secures the state first in the X std Matriculation Examination.

2. Macdalin Memorial Prize and fund:

This is for the outstanding student in this school for both physical and scholastic achievement in X STD.

3. Stars of SJMS:

Five stars are awarded to the pupils who secure the highest marks in English, Tamil, Math, Science, and Social Science in X STD Matriculation Examination.

4. Teachers Association Prize:

Instituted by Miss. Annie Jayamani, Rtd. Teacher General proficiency prizes to the best pupil in each class.

5. Shield for the best class and many other prizes for sports, Games and Education.

SCHOOL FEES:

Parents are requested to pay the school fees in time. Fees should be paid term – wise before 5th of June, October and February. Parents must bring fees card and cover when they come to remit the fees.

Annual Examination Hall Ticket will be issued only after the entire fees have been remitted.

A fine of Re.1/- per day will be charged for belated payment.

HOLIDAYS:

All Sundays, 2nd and 4th Saturdays are holidays. All Government holidays as per the government order. Other holidays may be declared by the correspondent by his discretion.

PARENT – TEACHERS ASSOCIATION:

Parent – teacher meeting will be held thrice in a year. Parents are requested to take active part in the meeting and share their views regarding the progress of the child and the growth of the school with staff and management.
